Mixed Media Beach Banners
I am probably the last person to voluntarily make anything with a beach theme as I don’t like the beach very much. Beaches have too much sand that gets in places where I didn’t even know I had places. Beaches have too much sun which does not bode well for my very pale and freckled English/Northern German skin. And beaches have the things in the water that brush against your legs when know one else is anywhere near you. Come on, you know what I mean. Jaws anyone?
I had a request from my clients in New York to make something “beachy”, as for some reason, they seem to like the beach. I decided to make them vintage beach themed banners. Each banner has four pennants, each with a different vintage beach motif. The motifs are mermaids, Victorian ladies, children and retro photos with four ladies (my clients are four friends). All the things I make for them are basically the same, except for the graphics.
I must say I had a blast making them! If it’s weren’t for Memorial Day, my promised due date coming so soon, I’d still be adding bits and pieces to the banners. My ideas seemed endless but luckily time kept them in check. I just want to say that I would rather make banners about the beach that actually go to the beach any day! So without any further ado, here are pictures of the banners that are on their way to New York as I type this.
