AHHH Versus EWWW!

I don’t know about you, but every morning when the alarm goes off, I go over a quick mental list of what I have to do that day. Depending on what’s on the list, I could be looking at an AHHH day or an EWWW day. That mental list could determine how I would look at the next 16 hours of my limited lifespan! Well it occurred to me today that I need to look for the ahhhs even in an ewww day. So I’ll show you what I did today, and how each event was “categorized”.

This was a BIG EWWWWWW! I hate painting, but in order to have a decent family room (we’ve only lived here 12 years) the walls were fixed up and now they need priming and painting. Today I primed the walls. So how did I redeem this hideous task?

COFFEE! YEAH! I’m sorry the picture is so blurry, but this was taken after  my 5th 2nd cup. If you look closely, you’ll also notice I am drinking coffee out of a mug celebrating the Queen of England’s Diamond Jubilee. Please don’t tell her I was drinking coffee, and not tea, out of her mug.

So the priming was done. What’s next?

LAUNDRY! Woo Hoo!! With Adam playing on two soccer teams it seems like there are always uniforms to be washed. Shhhh, don’t tell him, but I washed some doilies and vintage hankies with his Phoenix uniform. If he knew that, he would have to turn in his “man card”. So how does one get over this heinous task?

I went through and looked at all the pictures I took at Snow Creek Farm’s open house this past weekend. Donna and Janie did it again with a fabulous show, and they couldn’t have asked for a prettier fall weekend to have it. If you haven’t been to an open house at Snow Creek Farm yet, you don’t know what your missing. Check them out of Facebook and watch for their next show dates during the first two weekends in November. Alas, I must get back to work. What’s next?

Give me an E. Give me a W. Give me a W. Give me another W. What does that spell? Cleaning up after construction workers, two boys (yes Martin, you are a boy), and Queen Hairy, aka Holly Golightly. I must say though, this baby does suck up glitter beautifully! And no, I haven’t tried it on my face yet. So what is my reward for all this back breaking labor?

That’s what I’m talking about!

You see, everyday gives us EWWWs and AHHHs. We just have to keep our eyes (and sometimes mouths) open to be able to experience each day’s gifts because they are there if we look for them.

I hope your day today has more AHHHs than EWWWs!!!!
