Why Glitter On My Face?
Welcome to my first blog post! This particular post will not inspire you to break out the ModPodge or paint a piece of furniture or even to use E6000 glue. Instead I am just going to let you know why I am writing a blog and what it will be about.
First off, I decided in January (2011) that I should join the rest of the aspiring mixed media artists and crafters and start my own blog. My purpose is to show you what I have been creating, buying or fixing up and hopefully inspire you to do the same. From time to time I will show you pictures from my retail spaces. I will not be posting new blogs everyday as there are only a few things I actually do everyday: read my Bible, eat chocolate, drink coffee, scan Pinterest (for 4 hours), eat more chocolate, drink more coffee, etc…I am going to strive to post 2 or 3 new blogs each week, which is plenty for someone who took 1 1/2 years to actually start her blog in the first place!!!!! Hopefully as time goes by (and I become even somewhat computer literate) this blog will develop into a beautiful place you enjoy visiting. Until then, please come anyway and I’ll do my best with what I know.
Now for the big question…Why “Glitter On My Face”? Well, anyone who has seen me since I had a mid-life crisis became interested in mixed-media art will know that nine out of ten times you will be distracted from my sparkling conversations because I have at least one piece of glitter on my face. If I only have one piece of glitter on my face I’m lucky, because sometimes I’ve seen up to three shiny spots that don’t seem to go away no matter how hard I rub. Oh, I can move them around my face, but to get them off completely is next to impossible. PLEASE don’t run away because you hate glitter and think you won’t like my work. I do not use glitter on much of my stuff, however, it seems to multiply and cover my work desk while I’m not looking. No matter what medium I use, paper, cardboard, or fabric, I always end up with glitter on my face. Now I will confess I had another name for my blog, “Crafting in Pajamas”, which sadly , is self-explanatory. I promise you that unless my brain has completely dried up and I can’t think of anything else to put on my blog, I will not post a picture of me crafting in my pajamas. A picture of glitter on my face…, well that’s a possibility!!!
Hi Helen! It was great seeing you at the Big Flea today! Love the blog. Looked at the whole thing in one sitting! Thanks for the useful tips. Barb
